27 Mar Traveling Stand-By…
Wow, what a reality check!
I have never tried to fly on stand-by before and I hope I don’t have to do it again anytime soon.
But some things are totally worth it. And in this case it’s MORE than worth it.
As I sat in the airport this morning at 6:00 a.m. (for a 7:00 a.m. flight that I had NO CHANCE of getting on due to the fact the 5:30 a.m. flight was cancelled and all those people were now waiting for MY 7:00 a.m. flight), I had a huge range of emotions come over me.
Calm…STRESS…patience…PANIC…acceptance…FEAR…
Annnnnnd, of course, I missed that 7:00 a.m. flight…
Which is OK since I have time to get to Colorado before I teach my Essential Oils class. So 9:15 a.m. flight here I come…or here I wait…
Oversold and I’m 4th in line on STAND-BY…
“Never,” I thought, “NEVER will I make it.”
I started to make alternate plans…inside I was hopeful, outside I had given up.

Going to teach an essential oils class in Colorado…if I can make it.
They began to board the flight when they came over the P.A.
“Passenger Lewis and (a name I cannot pronounce), please come to the desk.”
I watch as they approach, thinking THEY are taking MY seat.
“We have 1 seat left…do you two want to be split up?”
They discuss. I can’t hear them. I am holding my breath.
“NO…ME ME, it’s MY seat! PLEASE!”

Made the first flight but missed my connecting flight. So maybe I am going to Colorado? This is crazy…
They decide not to split up and I got on the flight!
Relief, joy, excitement, anticipation…and then I hear…
“Passengers, we will be delayed due to weather in Charlotte…20 minutes.”
So I miss my connecting flight in Charlotte.
Yes, that happened.
Here I sit…the 1:00 p.m. to Pheonix is sold out…and I’m on STAND-BY AGAIN.
Will I make it?
I hope so–because this trip is WORTH IT!
XO – M
(Stay tuned…do I make it? )
