To Achieve Your Goals, Follow Your Feelings (They Won’t Let You Down)

Several years ago, my husband and I decided that it was finally time…

You see, for my entire yoga teaching career I’ve been told that my sutra’s (yoga-speak for the stories I tell my students during yoga classes) are so inspiring or that they move people or connect with their life experiences or that they just make people feel better about whatever it is I talk about and how it relates to them.

I realized people have been telling me this my whole life.

My Mom always told me I would be a nurse and now I think I realize this was the quality she saw in me–the ability to connect with people and, fundamentally, to tell it like it is in a way that inspires them.

Friends, family, students, co-workers all said I had a way of getting right to the matter and bringing clarity to it for them.

Anyway, I think I finally heard them and I was finally ready…and from that came my vision, Your Possible Life.

It came at a time when I was STILL not really following my own advice though.

I was continuing to give myself up to others–allowing them to drag me away from my own desires because…well, hell, it was just easier.

It is always EASIER to work for someone else.

Don’t get me wrong, I was planting seeds, I was doing things but I was also letting other people’s desires keep me running in place.

Like, literally…not moving forward–just standing still–at least when it came to truly and meaningfully pursuing my vision.

Last year in early summer I had a breakdown–a down and out kind of breakdown. Huge fight with my husband, huge break up with myself…and it was just what I needed to find clarity.

To this day it remains one of the most profound experiences of my life.

Because instead of staying there, running in place, I took action.

I decided to finally prioritize ME before everyone else–ME before my job, ME before my family, ME before everything

I know, it sounds selfish but really it’s been the best thing for everyone in my life.

I recently started reading a book, The Purpose Principles by Jake Ducey (click that link to get it on Amazon), and it’s reinforcing these things to me that I need to remind myself of.

It’s refocusing me to keep going…and it’s inspired another message from me to share with you. It’s a little long but worth the listen I think.

Thank you for continuing to check in with me, share my teachings, and join me on our quest to ALL of our POSSIBILITIES!
