05 Jun DIY Carpet Freshener Recipes: Simple and Safe ALL Natural Alternatives
I’ll admit–this is the part of essential oils I never thought I’d do.
I’m a little lazy…so the thought of making my own cleaning products was not high on my to do list.
What I found though, is that it’s easy and fast, and even better, it’s all natural and safe!
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the air in our own homes is 200-500% more polluted than the air outside, mainly due to toxic household cleaners and other sources. Here’s what they have to say about it:
In the last several years, a growing body of scientific evidence has indicated that the air within homes and other buildings can be more seriously polluted than the outdoor air in even the largest and most industrialized cities. Other research indicates that people spend approximately 90 percent of their time indoors. Thus, for many people, the risks to health may be greater due to exposure to air pollution indoors than outdoors.
Well then, that’s a little scary so if you want to start to remove some of these sources, this recipe is a good place to start. Join me in making some fun carpet fresheners! 🙂
Here are 2 of my favorite recipes.
Work into carpets. Let sit for about an hour then vacuum.
- 1 cup baking soda
- 20 drops Lavender
I chose lavender essential oil because it is one of the only essential oils that will remove odors from your carpet–it’s also a great purifier!
Another great reason to use this oil is if you have children crawling around on the carpets it’s safe for young children under the age of two.
